Often traditional therapy focuses on symptom reduction rather than getting down to the root causes. It helps. You may feel you can manage your day, but it lacks the vigor or flavor of the life you want. It doesn’t hurt much, nor does it feel great. This often leads to apathy and feeling indifferent to everything, not much pain nor joy. When stressed, you may become easily irritable and have occasional anger outbursts

It happens because we often intellectualize these emotions, then conclude that they cannot be changed. This is a left-brain and frontal-lobe-oriented approach while these emotions are very much physical energy. Though you feel you know what to do, your right brain and physical tensions are maintained. When you feel strong emotions, your body tenses up and creates volition or energy to do something in action. When it is retained, you may feel a heavy stone on your chest or a big knot in your stomach. Some people hold these stones on their shoulders and frowns on their faces. The fear of feeling these negative emotions builds up fuel for sustaining depression, anger, and anxiety.
